MIROSLAV PAVLOVIĆ, violin, Serbia – born in Kragujevac. He was a student of the School for Music Talents in Ćuprija, and later a student at the Faculty of Music in the class of Aleksandar Pavlović. In 1999, he was promoted to concertmaster of the Belgrade Philharmonic. He has collaborated with great artists such as Zubin Mehta, Mikhail Jurowski, Nikolai Lugansky, Miša Majski, Uroš Lajović, Muhai Tang and others.
Pavlović is very active as a soloist with orchestra, especially with the parent philharmonic and “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Chamber Orchestra. His recitals with Ivan Pavlović, Biljana Gorunović, Katarina Pipović and other pianists are important to mention. Chamber music playing makes a special and very important segment of the work represented by Miroslav Pavlović, including concerts he performs as the first violin of the Mokranjac String Quartet and the Ars String Quartet, the artistic management of the Belgrade Philharmonic Octet, and co-operation with many chamber ensembles in Serbia and other countries. Among the musicians with whom he played many times we can mention Gordan Nikolić, Jane Thomsen, Aleksandar Šandorov, Sandra Belić, Ljiljana Nestorovska, Hagai Shaham and many others. For the second year now, he has been involved in teaching at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, as a professor at the String Instruments Department.
BILJANA GORUNOVIĆ, piano, Serbia – The winner of the award from “Smiljka Uzelac” Fund as the best graduate of Stevan Mokranjac Secondary Music School in Belgrade for the year 1984 is currently one of the most renowned Serbian pianists and pedagogues, an associate professor and Head of the Piano Department of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Before she went to Moscow to continue her education, initially as the student of Prof. Larisa Mohel, she had won three first and two second prizes at republic and federal competitions of students of music schools. Biljana completed her postgraduate studies at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in the class of Prof. Gleb Akselrod (1995) but she acquired her MA title again at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Prof. Jokut Mihailović two years later. During the studies she won a number of recognitions at European competitions such as the Diploma of Honours at the Maria Canals International Competition in Barcelona 1991, or title of laureate of the Second International Chopin’s Competition in Göttingen in 1993. Having returned to her home country she had a prominent premiere performance of the Kameja op. 51 by Miloje Milojević in 1996 already, on the occasion of 50th anniversary of his death that was also recorded on a CD under PGP RTS label along with Melodies and Rhythms from the Balkans of the same author. Three years later her recitals with Milojević’s pieces was proclaimed the best concert in 1999 (according to the critic of the newspaper NIN). She was awarded the same recognition from the Association of Music Artists of Serbia for her solo concert held in 2006. For a long time Biljana Gorunović has been a l member of the Orpheus Ensemble of the Jeunessess Musicales of Belgrade, and as soloist and chamber musician within different ensembles (with the clarinettist Aleksandar Tasić, Glinka String Quartet, and others) she has played at many concerts all around former Yugoslavia. As soloist with orchestra she performed with Belgrade Philharmonic, “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, and with St. George Strings. On the occasion of celebration of 120th anniversary of Kolarac Endowment, 65th anniversary of opening of the Great Hall and 60th anniversary of existence of the Radio Orchestra, she played with the RTS Symphony Orchestra under the conductor Stanko Šepić. Her international performing career has been connected mainly with Russia and former Soviet Union countries, but also at guest performances in Greece, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Norway.
